From 1 - 23 September 2022, we will be inviting expressions of interest for garden funding at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024.
August 15, 2022
We are already thinking ahead to RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024 and beginning the process for the gardens that will be there with us. From 1 September we will be accepting expressions of interest for PGB funding from good causes and garden designers for the 2024 show.
Project Giving Back intends to fund up to 14 gardens at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024 – eight show gardens and six smaller All About Plants gardens. All PGB supported gardens must showcase the very best in plants and design, and tell a strong and engaging story about the work of a UK-registered charity.
If you are interested in applying, the first step is to register your details via our website (online forms will go live from 1 September). We prefer designers and good causes to have formed a partnership before applying for funding, but we will accept applications from either individually. If you are yet to partner with a designer or a good cause, we will provide advice and guidance where we can.
The deadline for initial expressions of interest is 23 September.
We will consider all initial expressions of interest and in early October will invite a long list of applicants to submit a written brief and mood board to us by the end of November. If you are successful in being shortlisted from these, we will inform you before Christmas and invite you to present to the Project Giving Back Selection Panel at the end of February, who will make a final selection.
Garden teams selected for funding by the PGB panel will then need to follow the usual RHS application process, which opens in May 2023. Being accepted for funding by PGB does not guarantee acceptance by the RHS, although our very experienced panel has a huge depth of understanding and knowledge when it comes to envisioning what makes a successful Chelsea show garden.
We welcome applications from designers who have previous show garden experience and those who have not exhibited at Chelsea before. We are keen to hear from all interested designers and the All About Plants category in particular is designed to encourage new creative talent.
The process of creating a garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show is complex and exciting and we can’t wait to start the journey with our 2024 hopefuls.
