Inspired by designer Katy Terry’s own personal ADHD diagnosis in 2023, the garden celebrates the beauty and diversity of plants. It draws a deep parallel between the rich diversity of plant life and the unique strengths of neurodiverse individuals, encouraging visitors to ‘think differently about thinking differently’.
As visitors weave through the garden’s path, they will immerse themselves in a calm yet richly layered environment filled with unique trees, shrubs and plants that represent individuality. Examples include the organically shaped Carpinus betulus Swing Tree - with its curved, gravity-defying stem - and the Hydrangea petiolaris that thrives vertically without support.
At the centre of the garden is a sculptural reflection pool, surrounded by visually stunning plants, unusual topiary and five delicately transparent steel-mesh hanging umbrellas that symbolise neurodiverse inclusion. This creates a place to sit and reflect on the calming beauty and individuality of nature.
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
The ADHD Foundation Neurodiversity Charity is the UK’s leading neurodiversity charity, offering services for the one in five of us who live with ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, DCD, Dyscalculia, OCD, Tourette’s Syndrome and more. It is the leading provider of neurodiversity training for the education sector, NHS providers, public and voluntary sector organisations, and provides a range of consultancy and training services for businesses. The charity takes a strength-based approach, emphasising the intelligence, talents and employability of those with ‘different abilities’, whilst acknowledging and understanding the difficulties associated with lifespan neurodevelopmental conditions. Every year it installs thousands of colourful umbrellas in public spaces to help break down stigmas and celebrate the value of ‘thinking differently’.
After the show, the garden will be relocated to the University of Liverpool.
